LeT militants, commander killed in encounter in JK

Security forces today gunned down three suspected Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, including the outfit's district commander, during an encounter in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said here.

JAMMU: Security forces today gunned down three suspected Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, including the outfit's district commander, during an encounter in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said here.

On specific information, troops of the Rashtriya Rifle (RR) launched an operation in Gunda area, 7-km north of Doda, and in the ensuing gun battle killed the three LeT terrorists, the spokesman said.

One of the dead has been identified as Mudassar - the district commander of LeT - the defence spokesman said, adding that the identity of the remaining two was being ascertained.

Security forces recovered three AK rifles along with some ammunition from the encounter site.
