Let centre open all secret files of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee

KOLKATA: Calling declassification of Bengal files related to Netaji Subhas Bose as "beginning of the future " Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said , " We are transparent and we declassified the files for the sake of the country and the world. Now let the centre open all the secret files it has in its possession. "

She further added that her government has already scrutinised the files before releasing it for people's eye and found nothing that would " affect the international relations ". Significantly , PMO in a response to Bose family states that files could not be declassified as it would might " affect International relations" .

" We have checked that we have no such file that would affect our foreign relations . So, nobody can hold us responsible for declassifying secret documents, " added Banerjee.

Meanwhile , the files intensified the mystery over Netaji even further . A letter written to Bose family from Japan states that Netaji Subhas Bose was alive after 1945. Of 64 files, there are at least dozen files which are on INA and its members. Responding to a question on snooping on Bose family for almost two decade after independence, Banerjee said , " It is not right to comment on the then government 's decision. But I can only say that it was unfortunate . "
