Twenty five police personnel of the Kolkata Police were injured in a clash with the CPI-M's peasant wing in the city.

Left supporters fight pitched battle with police, many injured
KOLKATA: Twenty five police personnel of the Kolkata Police were injured in a clash with the CPI-M's peasant wing here in the city this afternoon.

The injured include senior officials including Additional Commissioner of Police, Soumen Mitra; Joint Commissioner of Police, Supratim Sarkar; Divisional Commissioner (South), Murlidhar; Divisional Commissioner (Traffic), V Solomon Neshakumar.

Mitra and Sarkar have been admitted to a private hospital. Mitra is said to have suffered from multiple injuries; while Sarkar has suffered a rib-cage fracture. Both are at present under medical observation .
