Left parties will make strong political intervention in Bihar polls: CPI(M)
NEW DELHI: CPI(M) today said that Left parties, which plan to contest Bihar Assembly polls as an independent block, will make a "strong" political and electoral intervention during the crucial elections, schedule for which was declared today.

"Left parties have been fighting on people's issues in Bihar since long. The Left block has had background of working amongst people together," CPI (M) politburo member Brinda Karat told reporters.

"The other alliances in fray have no ideology, principles and they are fighting on seat-sharing issues. Hence, in this background, Left will make a strong political and electoral intervention," Karat said.

The communist parties including CPI(M), CPI and CPI(ML) had decided to contest the polls as an independent block.

On September 7, leaders of the parties had also held a joint convention in which they targeted the two other alliances, accusing them of engaging in communal and castiest politics.

According to the schedule announced by Election Commission, the Bihar polls will be held in five phases between October 12 and November 5, while counting of votes will take place on November 8.
