Left parties today staged a protest against the fuel price hike here, saying it would result in increase in prices of essential commodities.

CHENNAI: Left parties today staged a protest against the fuel price hike here, saying it would result in increase in prices of essential commodities.

The CPI (M) and Forward Bloc staged protests at Saidapet area in the metropolis.

CPI (M) state unit secretary G Ramakrishnan, party's South Chennai secretary K Bheemrao and hundreds of party workers participated and shouted slogans against the Centre's move to hike fuel prices.

The latest hike would fuel increase in prices of essential commodities, he said, adding this would affect the common man.
