Left parties degrading political morality: Antony
Accusing the Left parties of 'degrading political morality' in their move to pull down the UPA government, Defence Minister A K Antony on Sunday said they would have to repent in future for joining hands with the BJP.
"The Left parties have adopted a stand that they are ready to join hands with any devil to bring the UPA government down. They will have to repent for this in the future," Antony told reporters here.
He said the CPI(M) had no right to preach political morality as the party had tied up with BSP leader Mayawati, whom it had opposed until yesterday. "How can the CPI(M) claim a moral high ground in that party's change of stance?" he asked.
Exuding confidence that the Government would win the trust vote, Antony said that the efforts by the rival camp to wean away the UPA supporters would not succeed.
He termed as unfortunate, the propaganda that the India-US nuclear deal was against the interests of the Muslim community and said a majority of Muslim leaders in Parliament had supported the deal, which would help resolve the energy crisis of the country.
