Left Front flays Trinamool for 'interfering' in police work
KOLKATA: Opposition Left Front today criticised the ruling Trinamool Congress for allegedly not allowing the police to work independently in the state, as "witnessed" in a spate of recent incidents.

Recently, the mayor's niece was involved in a brawl with a traffic police who was also allegedly attacked by her friends.

"What we saw the attackers were spared" and the concerned traffic police constable was sidelined, Leader of Opposition and CPI-M member Surya Kanta Mishra told reporters at a press conference within the Assembly premises here.

Yesterday, we saw that one security personnel was tying the shoe laces of a minister. "This had never happened in the state before. It seems we were going back to the medieval era!" he said.

This act was dismissed as a "non-incident" by another state minister in the Assembly, while the Speaker gave his concurrence with him. "This is surprising," Mishra commented.

Mishra alleged that police outposts were being attacked and police personnel were being transferred wrongfully.

He also alleged that his listed question on industry was omitted in today's business.
