Leeds to award doctorates to Praful Patel, Yash Chopra

MUMBAI: Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel will be conferred a prestigious Honorary Doctorate from Leeds Metropolitan University in UK.
In a statement on Wednesday, the university said Patel will be conferred the doctorate on June seven, to mark 60 years of India's independence.
The 180-year old university said it "wishes to celebrate India's freedom struggle by honouring prominent Indian citizens."
The university is also awarding an honorary doctorate to legendary producer-director Yash Chopra for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Social activist and actress Shabana Azmi, will also receive an honourary doctorate.
The awards will be conferred on June 7, at the university's convocation hall, and will coincide with the inauguration of the IIFA awards in Yorkshire.
