Lease land along railway tracks for fodder: Narendra Modi to Centre

Narendra Modi today appealed the Centre to lease vast chunk of land alongside railway tracks to the state for fodder plantation.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today appealed the Centre to lease vast chunk of land alongside railway tracks to the state for fodder plantation.

"I hope that Union Government will give thousands of acres of land alongside the railway tracks lying unused, on lease to Gujarat to grow fodder with people's participation given the drought-like situation prevailing here," he said.

Meanwhile, Modi who held a district level meeting with officials in Bhavnagar today to review the scarcity situation asked them to do away with the old-fashioned relief manuals and apply innovative methods to deal with the situation.

The state government had recently declared 14 districts and 152 talukas of the state as scarcity-hit due to deficient rains and announced a stimulus package.
