NDMC has alleged that Le Meridian not only evaded the license fee it owed to NDMC but also paid much lesser luxury tax to the Delhi government.

NEW DELHI: In a reply filed in the Delhi High Court in response to a plea by CJ International, operator of the Le Meridian Hotel, the New Delhi Municipal Council ( NDMC) has stated that CJ International owes the civic body Rs 605 crore which includes Rs 94 crore of service tax.

The dues were earlier pegged to upwards of Rs 500 crore.

NDMC has alleged that Le Meridian not only evaded the license fee it owed to NDMC but also paid much lesser luxury tax to the Delhi government.

Le meridian had paid a luxury tax of around Rs 10,000 to 43,000 per annum between 2008-2009 and 2015-2016 according to financial statements put forth by NDMC.

The next hearing on the case is scheduled for 14th August in the Delhi High Court.
