Lawyers gherao VK Singh's house seeking separate High Court bench

GHAZIABAD: Members of the Ghaziabad Bar Association today gheraoed the residence of local MP and Union minister VK Singh to press for their demand of a high court bench for western Uttar Pradesh district.

Agitating lawyers assembled at the Collectorate Court Compound and marched towards the Raj Nagar residence of General (retired) Singh, under the leadership of Ghaziabad Bar Association president Anil Pandit.

Pandit, while addressing the advocates, said that lawyers of each and every district bar associations are striving hard to provide a speedy justice to the litigants at minimal costs.

The lawyer fraternity had earlier submitted two memorandums to the Minister, who in turn had assured them of arranging meeting with Law Minister and the Prime Minister.

Bar Association member Ajay Veer Singh told that Lucknow Bench is catering appeals and revisions for only eight districts out of total 80 districts of Uttar Pradesh and Allahabad Bench is overburdened with the appeal and revision work of remaining 72 districts, creating a huge backlog of undecided cases at Allahabad High Court.
