Law took its own course in Salman Khan case: Priya Dutt
MUMBAI: Jailed actor Sanjay Dutt's sister and Congress MP Priya Dutt today said law took its own course in the Salman Khan hit-and-run case and that the judiciary has to be respected.

"I think law took its own course and they have gone through whole trial and we have to respect what our judiciary is," Dutt said after Salman was convicted of culpable homicide and sentenced to five years' imprisonment in the 2002 hit-and-run case by a sessions court.

Salman, however, escaped being sent to jail after the Bombay High Court granted him interim bail till May 8 when it will hear his plea against conviction.

"I think a lot of times we tend to set an example through a lot of people who are celebrities and even the media would not cover a case like this of somebody else but because it's Salman Khan, media will cover it more seriously. There are opportunities to set examples for everyone," Dutt said.

Dutt's brother Sanjay is serving jail term in a case under the Arms Act.
