Law Ministry hasn't received any reference from MHA on Naik: Ravi Shankar Prasad
NEW DELHI: The Law Ministry today said it has not received any reference from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on controversial preacher Zakir Naik.

"If the MHA seeks any legal advice in a structured way, then the Law Ministry will consider it appropriately," Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said here.

He was asked whether the MHA has sought opinion on booking Naik under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for his speeches.

A section of the media had reported that the MHA was planning to book the preacher under the stringent law.

Naik is facing multiple probes over his alleged provocative speeches.

His "provocative" speeches had reportedly inspired some of the terrorists who carried out Bangladesh's worst terror attack at a cafe in Dhaka that left 22 dead earlier this month.
