Law Min asked to expedite Majithia wageboard matter: Suresh

Government is in favour of implementing the Majithia Wage Board report for journalists and non-journalists.

BHOPAL: Government is in favour of implementing the Majithia Wage Board report for journalists and non-journalists and has also given an affidavit in the Supreme Court on the issue, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment K Suresh said here today.

"We are not against it. We are in favour of Majithia Wage Board," the Minister said.

"We have also requested the Law Ministry to expedite the matter and pursue it with the Supreme Court," Suresh said.

"The government has also given an affidavit in the apex court on the issue," the Minister said.

The Wage Board report, which was notified by the Union Cabinet on November 11, 2011, has not been implemented in the newspaper industry and news agencies as managements have moved the Supreme Court against it.

The matter has been posted for fresh hearing on July 9 by a new Bench.
