Law and order is top priority: Suresh Arora, Punjab DGP
MOGA: Punjab Director General of Police ( DGP) Suresh Arora today stressed that maintaining law and order in the state was his priority even as he directed officials to ensure transparency in the probe of incidents of desecration.

"Maintaining law and order and communal harmony is the priority of police with the cooperation of people," he said here.

The DGP, who replaced high profile Sumedh Singh Saini on Sunday, directed all district police chiefs to ensure peace at all costs in the state.

The 1982-batch IPS officer also directed them to provide justice to the aggrieved and to ensure transparency and fair investigations, especially in the incidents of desecration.

He said the officers must adopt proactive approach to improve the image of state police.

Saini was shunted out in a sudden move on Sunday by the state government which has been under intense attack over handling of the situation arising out of desecration of Sikh holy book.
