Guwahati: Last rites of BSF constable Deepak Chingakham, who succumbed to injuries sustained during firing in J&K's RS Pura sector on Sunday, will be performed on Tuesday in Thoubal in Manipur. His body is expected to reach Imphal on Tuesday. Sources said the martyred jawan will be accorded full state honour.

Chimngakham was among the eight BSF personnel injured in the cross-border shelling along the border in RS Pura Sector on May 10.

The deceased's father said he is proud of his 25-year-old son. Chingakham Bonibihari Singh, father of the fallen constable, said, "We are really proud of his sacrifice. He joined BSF in April 2021 and was the sole breadwinner of the family. Due to health issues, I am unable to work."


Former CM N Biren Singh condoled the death of the BSF constable.
