The Sri Lankans might be airlifted from here to either Bengaluru or nearest 'safe place' to prevent pro-Eelam Tamil outfits and parties from further intensifying their protests against the training of the Lankans, a Defence official, who did not want to be quoted, said today.
Though there was a plan to send them by car to Bengaluru yesterday itself after Naam Tamizhar Katchi activists managed to storm the high-security Madras Regimental Centre housing the college, it was dropped considering their safety, the official said.
Another option was to send them by helicopter to Sulur near here and from there to Bengaluru, the official said, adding a final decision would be taken as per orders from higher defence authorities.
Sri Lanka, according to media reports, has requested India to repatriate the two military officials in view of the ongoing protests.
