The judicial custody of 35 fishermen from Tamil Nadu, arrested by Sri Lankan Navy was extended till January 4 by a court in the island nation.

RAMESWARAM: The judicial custody of 35 fishermen from Tamil Nadu, arrested by Sri Lankan Navy was today extended till January 4 by a court in the island nation.

Oorkavalturai Judicial Magistrate Lenin Kumar passed the order when the fishermen were produced before him on expiry of the remand period, Rameswaram fishermen organisation president T Sasuraja said here quoting information received by him.

The fishermen were arrested on charges of violating International Maritime Boundary Line in separate incidents.

All of them were later lodged in Jaffna prison, he said.
