No injury or casualty was reported due to the landslide in the 77 km national highway that connects Siliguri and Darjeeling.

DARJEELING: A landslide, triggered by incessant rains in the past couple of days, has damaged a portion of National Highway 55 in Kurseong subdivision of Darjeeling district.

The incident occurred at 14 Mile area under Gayabari police station last night, district officials said today.

However, no injury or casualty was reported due to the landslide in the 77 km national highway that connects Siliguri and Darjeeling.

The affected road has been closed for traffic due to earlier landslides that had hit the district since July one, the officials said.

Yesterday, 6 Mile area in Kalimpong was hit by a landslide that caused a house to collapse and damaged a key road, snapping communication between Sikkim and Kalimpong.
