Land grabbing cases: DMK seeks TN Governor S S Barnala's intervention

Dubbing the detention of party men in land grabbing cases as 'totally unwarranted and uncalled for', DMK sought Tamil Nadu Governor's intervention.

CHENNAI: Dubbing the detention of a number of party men in land grabbing cases as 'totally unwarranted and uncalled for', DMK on Friday sought Tamil Nadu Governor S S Barnala's intervention to stop the police action.

A Delegation of the party's advocates wing called on the Governor and handed over a memorandum in this regard.

The delegation alleged while a Minister in Jayalalithaa Cabinet, Agri Krishnamurthy, had been left to go scot free despite 'documentary evidence' of land grabbing against him, DMK men in 'legal possession' of land were arrested.

The arrests were 'totally unwarranted and uncalled for' the memoraundum said and wanted the governor to intervene to stop them.

The memorandum warned of indefinite protest if the arrests continued.
