Land Bill: BJP Rajasthan MLA wants UPA clause
NEW DELHI: BJP may be grappling with strident opposition to the land acquisition bill at the Centre, but in Rajasthan the party is finding it hard to convince even its own MLAs.

Much before the Centre promulgated the ordinance, the state government had floated its own amendments to the legislation that could not be passed in the assembly on account of opposition from influential BJP MLAs who ensured that the bill was sent to a select committee for carrying out revisions.

One of the 17 BJP members of the select committee, Alwar MLA BL Singhal, has dissented against the majority view, ET has learnt. When ET contacted Singhal, he refused to comment. However, one of the other MLAs who is part of the same panel, said the Alwar MLA was for retaining one clause from section 24 of the bill formulated by the UPA government.
