Land allotment: Neera Yadav gets 4 yrs in jail

Former chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh and former Noida chairman Neera Yadav was on Tuesday sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment under the anti-corruption act by the special CBI court in Ghaziabad.

GHAZIABAD: Former chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh and former Noida chairman Neera Yadav was on Tuesday sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment under the anti-corruption act by the special CBI court in Ghaziabad.

She has been found guilty in a land allocation case by the CBI court. Ashok Chaturvedi of Flex industries is also convicted for 4 years imprisonment

Neera Yadav is accused in four cases pertaining to allotment of plots in Noida by violating all rules and procedures during her tenure there in 1994-96. Apart from Neera Yadav, and CMD of Kailash Hospital Mahesh Sharma are also facing charges.

The CBI had registered the cases on the orders of the apex court in a writ petition filed by the Noida Entrepreneurs Association in 1997 which had alleged large-scale bungling in the allotment of land in different sectors and in commercial Sector 18 during Yadav's tenure in Noida.
