Lalu's brother-in-law resigns from RJD

RJD on Monday received yet another blow ahead of the Assembly elections in Bihar when party strongman and brother-in-law of former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, Subhash Yadav, resigned from the party.

PATNA: RJD on Monday received yet another blow ahead of the Assembly elections in Bihar when party strongman and brother-in-law of former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, Subhash Yadav, resigned from the party.

"RJD is a sinking boat and none will like to ride this boat during the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar. The captain of the RJD ship has lived his life and he is not in a position to navigate it to the jetty," Yadav, who resigned from the primary membership of the party, told reporters here.

He alleged that his brother-in-law was behaving like a dictator and giving preference to sycophants having no base in the state.

The former RJD Rajya Sabha MP said that the days of his charismatic brother-in law and undisputed leader of the Yadavs were over and hence he should bid farewell to politics and allow the new generation of politicians to emerge.

"Lalu Prasad should retire from politics as he has lost the sway over the voters particularly the Muslims and Yadavs and he would bite the dust during the Assembly elections," Yadav said, adding that the reins of the party should be handed over to the younger generation for the party to survive.

On joining the Congress or the JD (U), he said he would decide in a couple of days after consulting his supporters.

Praising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for "controlling" the deteriorating law and order situation, he said Kumar must be given another chance to rule the state.

Meanwhile, reacting to media reports Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman and media in-charge Premchandra Mishra said the party was not willing to induct Subhash Yadav into the fold.
