Lalu Prasad Yadav lends support to Telangana separate statehood cause

Lending his support to the Telangana cause, RJD chief Lalu Prasad today demanded that the Centre form the separate state at the earliest.

NEW DELHI: Lending his support to the Telangana cause, RJD chief Lalu Prasad today demanded that the Centre form the separate state at the earliest.

"When Bihar was divided there was an opinion that small states are good for development. The people of Telangana, both young and old, men and women are agitating for formation of the state in a democratic manner. Government should not delay any further the formation of Telangana," Prasad, who expressed solidarity with Congress members protesting in Parliament premises over the issue, told reporters.

Eight Congress members from Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh staged a protest at the main entrance of Parliament to press for their demand for formation of the state

The Congress members agitating for Telangana held placards which read, "Honour your commitment. Give separate state of Telangana" and raised slogans "Form Telangana, save democracy", "Respect Telangana, form Telangana".

Madhu Yashki Goud, Congress member, claimed there is some forward movement from the government on the Telangana issue.
