PATNA: Expressing concern over death of soldiers in cross-border firing in Jammu and Kashmir, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad today hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for not backing up their "tall claims" regarding Pakistan.

"So many of our soldiers, including those from Bihar, are being killed in cross-border firing in Jammu and Kashmir. There is no sign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP backing up their tall claims that Pakistan will not dare look into our eyes," Prasad said.

The RJD chief added that the BJP formed a government with People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir, yet "The result is that Pakistani flags are being hoisted there".

In further dig at Modi's foreign policy initiatives, Lalu alleged, "The prime minister was hosting Chinese President Xi Jinping while the Chinese Army entered our territory and stayed for over seven days."

"All this doesn't augur well."

Prasad also pooh-poohed BJP President Amit Shah's claim in the wake of yesterday's Legislative Council results for 24 seats that the Janata Parivar unity has flopped badly on the ground.

"What will Shah say? He is unable to see that NDA won 12 seats (but) we won 10 seats. There is not much difference in numbers. We lost a few seats with very narrow margin," Prasad countered.

"Moreover, this was not a elections in which the masses were involved," he added.

The veteran RJD leader asserted that the public will show the ground reality to BJP in the forthcoming polls. He also said that RJD and JD(U) will start talks on seat-sharing in the coming days.
