Lalu demands Modi's arrest
Railways Minister Lalu Prasad on Wednesday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and demanded Narendra Modi's immediate arrest in the wake of the Tehelka expose of post-Godhra communal riots.
Prasad was accompanied by some of the ministers from his party including Prem Gupta, Taslimuddin, Kanti Singh and J P Yadav and RJD MPs.
"The Tehelka expose has conclusively established Modi's role in the Gujarat riots which left thousands dead," the delegation told the Prime Minister.
The RJD leaders said the Tehelka tapes were sufficient evidence to book Modi under section 302 IPC and place him and other perpetrators of the communal carnage orchestrated by the saffron outfits under arrest.
They also demanded action against former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani who they alleged had been shielding Modi.
Prasad later told reporters that the sting had vindicated whatever he had been saying regarding the riots.
Several saffron brigade leaders including Godhra BJP MLA Haresh Bhatt, Shiv Sena leader Babu Bajrangi and VHP leaders Anil Patel and Dhaval Jayant Patel were shown on Tehelka tapes beamed on TV channels bragging their "feats" during the 2002 Gujarat carnage.
He said the Prime Minister gave the delegation a patient hearing and promised to look into the matter.
