"The party unit was recently put back in place in Leh after a gap of 12 years and I congratulate the party leaders and workers for winning the seats of Turtuk and Lower Leh after having the organizational setup back in place after more than a decade," the former chief minister of the state said in a statement.
The BJP swept the LAHDC polls, winning 18 seats while Congress, which controlled the council, managed just five seats. National Conference has won two seats while one seat was won by an independent candidate.
The NC working president thanked the people for their continued faith in the democratic process and called upon the victorious candidates to fulfill the promises made to the people and to serve them with honesty and dedication.
Omar said the party would continue with its vision of upholding the integrity and unity of the state and would endeavor to defeat divisive elements who harbour plans of sowing seeds of division in the state.
