NEW DELHI: The government is likely to introduce the bill to amend the Labour Laws (Exemption from Furnishing Returns and Maintaining Registers by Certain Establishments) Act, 1988, tomorrow in Rajya Sabha.

The bill seeks to allow thousands of small industries to file just one return for compliance with 16 labour laws. The bill is listed in the Rajya Sabha business schedule for August 7.

" Narendra Singh Tomar to move that the Bill to amend the Labour Laws (Exemption from Furnishing Returns and Maintaining Registers by Certain Establishments) Act, 1988, be taken into consideration. Also to move that the Bill be passed," read the revised business schedule of the Upper House.

The Union Cabinet had a few days back cleared amendments to the Factories Act, the Apprentices Act and the Labour Laws Act to make them more compatible and beneficial for labourers and employers.

Labour and Employment minister Tomar had said that the Cabinet has given its approval to the amendments and they would be beneficial for the labourers. He had said that the Bill is expected to be tabled in the current session of Parliament.
