L K Advani renews wedding vows on 50th anniversary, PM Modi wishes him

NEW DELHI: Away from political limelight, BJP veteran L K Advani was the cynosure of all eyes today as he turned a 'groom' once again, exchanging the traditional 'varmala' with his wife Kamla on their 50th wedding anniversary.

Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Governors and BJP leaders were among those present to wish him on his golden wedding anniversary.

Renewing his marriage vows, 87-year-old Advani relived his memories. Their daughter Pratibha made a montage of their golden years of togetherness for the occasion.

Lt Governor of Delhi and Governors of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Nagaland, some chief ministers, Union Ministers fomrer ministers Praful Patel and Rajiv Shukla and Amar Singh were also present on the occasion.

The event at his residence started with a bhajan by Chitra Roy, a disciple of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of Art of Living and thereafter there was 'jaimala' (exchange of garlands or varmala) as is the tradition on a weddding.

Some Bollywood personalities like Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anu Malik and Gulshan Grover were also there and so were some religious leaders like Swami Anadeshwara and Swami Chidananda.
