Union Heavy Industries & Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Monday said he would unveil a vision document in the next 15 days and work by taking businesses into confidence.

The JDS leader, who spoke to the media in Delhi soon after the portfolios were announced, said he believed India’s development hinged on his portfolio. There were lots of expectations from the government in the manufacturing sector, he said, while thanking the PM for giving him such a crucial ministry by reposing faith in him.

The union minister said he would take the PM's guidance in running his ministry and work hard to bring about a positive change. He added he would pay attention to the creation of jobs.


He is among the five Cabinet ministers sworn in on Sunday. South India, in all, has got 13 berths.

Pralhad Joshi has moved from Parliamentary Affairs & Coal to Consumer Affairs, Food & Public distribution and new & renewable energy (MNRE). Joshi put out a post on X, thanking the PM for the opportunity to serve in the NDA regime’s third term. Nirmala Sitharaman has retained finance and corporate affairs as before. Besides Kumaraswamy and Joshi, Sitharaman too has got the Cabinet position under the Karnataka quota.

Karnataka’s minister of state (Mos) V Somanna has got railways and jal shakti, while Shobha Karndlaje has moved from agriculture and farmers welfare to MSME and Labour & Employment. Andhra Pradesh's Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu (TDP) is the new Cabinet minister for Civil Aviation while Telangana's G Kishan Reddy (BJP) is Cabinet minister for Coal and Mines.

Telangana's Bandi Sanjay Kumar (BJP) is an MoS in the Home Ministry and Andhra Pradesh's Bhupati Raju Srinivasa Varma (BJP) will work with Kumaraswamy in ministries of heavy industry and steel ministries. Andhra Pradesh's Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani (TDP) will be an MoS in the ministries of rural development and communication.

Suresh Gopi, the first BJP candidate to win from Kerala, is an MoS in the ministries of petroleum & natural gas, and tourism. Kerala attracts tens of thousands of tourists every year. His party colleague from the same state George Kurian is an MoS in the ministries of minority affairs and fisheries, animal husbandry and dairying. Tamil Nadu's L Murugan continues as MoS in the ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
