This came after a video from inside the shop in the city's shopping hub, T Nagar, went viral on social media showing hordes of people inside the store without wearing masks and following norms of social distancing.
The municipal body warned that stern action would be taken against those who don’t follow the rules that have been drawn up to control the spread of the pandemic.
Tamil Nadu reported a further decline in Covid-19 cases on Tuesday with 3096 people testing positive for the infection.
The State saw 3536 people testing positive for the infection on Monday, as opposed to 3914 people on Sunday, the State media bulletin confirmed.
Chennai too continued to report under 1000 cases on Tuesday with 857 people testing positive as opposed to 885 people on Monday.
The total tally of cases is nearing 7 lakh with the number of cases touching 6,94,030 in the State on Tuesday.
The number of deaths stood at 50 on Tuesday, with which the death toll touched 10,741.
A total of 4403 patients recovered from the infection on Tuesday, and the total recoveries now stand at 6,46,555.
The testing, however, went down from 83,625 people on Monday to 78,903 on Tuesday. As many as 93,844 people were tested for Covid-19 last Wednesday.
