Manipur violence fallout: Kuki People’s Alliance withdraws support to N Biren Singh govt
NDA ally Kuki People's Alliance on Sunday announced withdrawal of support from the N Biren Singh government in Manipur. In a letter to governor Anusuiya Uikey, KPA chief Tongmang Haokip informed about the decision to snap ties with the BJP-led government in Manipur.

In the 60-member House, KPA has two MLAs - Kimneo Haokip Hangshing from Saikul and Chinlunthang from Singhat. BJP has 32 members in the assembly while it has support of five NPF MLAs and three independent legislators.

The Opposition MLAs include seven from NPP, five from Congress and six from JDU. Meanwhile, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (Cocomi), an umbrella body of several Imphal-based civil society groups, has decided to boycott the state government for its failure to convene an emergency assembly session and inept handling of the ongoing unrest in the state.

Also, most Kuki MLAs, irrespective of their party affiliations, are unlikely to attend the assembly session slated to be called from August 21.
