New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has asked for an explanation from Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot regarding the situation in Kota. She also called party in-charge in the state Avinash Pande to discuss the issue.

After the meeting, Pande said, “Sonia ji wanted to know the reasons for the deaths. It is a very sad situation and the chief minister has been asked to take all necessary actions.” On BJP charges of administrative and hospital negligence, he said, "The BJP allegation is untrue as the inquiry is on and those responsible will be punished.”

Meanwhile, Gehlot tweeted, “I welcome specialist delegation of central government and the state is committed to make Rajasthan 'Nirogi'. The government is sensitive towards the death of the children and there should be no politics into it."
