With an eye towards comprehensive development plan of Kolkata, Trinamool Congress releases KMC Manifesto on Saturday, ahead of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) polls on December 19.

The manifesto puts emphasis on new projects like Nirmal Kolkata project, with an aim to scientifically manage waste through source segregation, collection, and processing through a PPP mode, elimination of open dumping of garbage with the installation of underground bin container systems in every alternate ward, market restoration, 100 escalator-enabled footbridges and subways to reduce traffic congestion, water harvesting and recycling plans, 30 dengue detection centres and shelters for homeless, among others.

Trinamool Congress on Saturday unveiled its manifesto ‘Kolkatar 10 Diganta’ for KMC polls which will be held on December 19.


The manifesto was released by Trinamool Congress state president Subrata Bakshi, secretary general Partha Chatterjee, Lok Sabha MP Sudip Bandopadhyay and Minister Arup Biswas were present at the programme.

“Mamata Banerjee promised to turn Kolkata into a beautiful city and KMC has achieved it. The party is confident of winning all 144 wards in the coming election,” Chatterjee said.

The manifesto also vows to build women’s toilets, night shelters and a community hall in every ward. The party will preserve Kolkata’s culture and ethos, the manifesto said. “We plan to set up 30 new Dengue detection centres in addition to seasonal cleaning and fumigation,” Subrata Bakshi said.

The Trinamool also discussed about plans to increase the number of night shelters, promising better drinking water distribution and drainage system in the city.
