Kolkata Municipal Corporation polls on December 19

The counting of votes polled in the 144 wards of the civic body is likely to be held on December 21, State Election Commissioner Saurav Das said.

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation polls will be held on December 19 as per the notification issued by the State Election Commission of West Bengal on Thursday.

The last date for filing nominations for 144 wards of KMC is December 1.

Nearly 4 million voters are eligible to cast their votes in the elections. State election commissioner Saurav Das said counting would take place on December 21.


"The entire polling process has to be completed by December 22. A separate notification will be issued for that. The model code of conduct is in force from today (Thursday)," Sourav Das said.

"There will be no campaigning from 7 pm to 10 am and there will be 72 hours of silence period before the polls" Das said.
