Terming 'Reclaim the Nights' protest over the RG Kar hospital rape and murder case a "conspiracy" of the central government and CPI-M, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday refuted the allegations on offering money to the victim's parents.

"I have never offered money to the deceased doctor's family, this is nothing but slander. I told them, if they want to do some good work in the memory of their daughter, then they should tell us and the state government will stand by them. I know what to say in which situation," said Banerjee, adding that it was a loss which could not be compensated.

"I went to her home but did not give money. However, one of the demands of the junior doctors included compensation for the family. There is a court order in this regard as well," she said.

The parents of the victim have reiterated that they were offered money by the deputy commissioner of police-north at their home when the body of the deceased doctor was brought to their residence before cremation. However, they did not accuse Banerjee of offering money to them.

During an administrative meeting on Monday, Banerjee alleged the Centre and the Left Front were creating disruption in West Bengal. "It is a conspiracy and misinformation campaign," she alleged.

Banerjee also said that the Kolkata Police Commissioner has expressed his desire to resign several times.
