Kolkata creates Limca Book record on treadmill
KOLKATA: Kolkatans created a Limca Book record by jogging for about 6,000 km on treadmills for a span of one week.

Ahead of the World Heart Day on Tuesday, Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals conducted 'Love Your Heart' initiative to spread awareness on the need for exercise and keeping heart disease at bay.

The campaign was executed across various communities and locations in the city across a span of seven days, which ended yesterday, hospital officials said.

Treadmills were taken around the city so that people could walk on it for sometime.

The Kolkatans broke the previous Limca record of walking 4,056 km, after jogging for 5,935 km on treadmills for a week.

"We are extremely proud and happy to have successfully entered the Limca Book of Records for such a significant cause. What makes us even more content is that we have been able to involve the participation of such large number of people and have thereby been able to spread awareness on heart diseases to a great extent," Rupali Basu, president and CEO of Apollo Hospitals Group (eastern region), said.
