Kochi airport to be on high alert till Monday
KOCHI: Security at Kochi International airport at nearby Nedumbassery will remain stringent and the airport will continue to be on red alert till Monday against the backdrop of threat calls, a top official today said.

"The security will remain high and the red alert will continue till Monday when we will review it," Airport Director, A K C Nair, told PTI.

The airport was put on high alert last night after the Air Traffic Control Tower received four calls threatening that terrorists would attack it with AK 47s. While the caller first said the attack would be carried out by Al Qaeda, the caller later said Mujahideen would attack the airport.

While one call was traced to Saudi Arabia, three others were internet generated calls, Nair said adding all the calls were suspected to have been made by the same person.

Visitors would not be allowed inside the airport till Monday and vehicles coming to the airport would be thoroughly checked.
