Ahead of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vows to set up a bunch of innovative schemes if voted to power in the civic body polls scheduled on December 19.

‘Amar Kolkata’, a unified transport card for metro, local train, tram and buses and a system which will digitise the ticketing system in public transport, finds mention in BJP’s KMC manifest.

If voted to power in KMC, the party also plans to form "Area Chambers" which will ensure that every citizen has the right to the excellent healthcare system.

The party has also chalked out a plan to set up separate departments for health and hygiene and dignity at the crematoriums and burial grounds.

There will be effective solid and liquid waste management in the city by the BJP. The BJP in its manifesto has emphasized strict implementation of law and order to keep a check on crimes.

The saffron party also plans to build music schools and sports areas at every ward of the city. The existing KMC-run schools will get a makeover with better infrastructure with the state of the art computer and science laboratories, according to the BJP KMC polls manifesto.

“All heavyweight leaders will be present during the campaign of the candidates ahead of the polls. Suvendu Adhikari had been given charge of 10 wards in South Kolkata. Adhikari will be in-charge of the election management,” sources said, also adding that the official launch of the manifesto by the saffron camp will be done on Wednesday.

Adhikari said on Tuesday that it was assumed that BJP will not be able to field candidates in all the 144 wards. “We have fielded candidates and we will fight the KMC polls,” Adhikari said.
