KLO undertrials hospitalised

Thirty three Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) undertrials, who were on a hunger strike at the the Jalpaiguri Central jail were hospitalised after their condition deteriorated.

JALPAIGURI-WB: Thirty three Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) undertrials, who were on a hunger strike at the the Jalpaiguri Central jail were hospitalised after their condition deteriorated.

The jail authorities today said of the 51 KLO undertirals lodged at the Central jail since 2003, 43 went on indefinite hunger strike on Wednesday demanding speedy trial and their release from the prison.

On Friday, 19 prisoners were shifted to Jalpaiguri Sadar hospital but as their condition deteriorated, they were shifted to North Bengal College Hospital where a medical board had been constituted.

The authorities said 14 other undertrials were shifted to Jalpaiguri Sadar hospital yesterday.

The condition of ten undertrials on hunger strike in jail had also deteriorated.
