Killer teacher's saffron link raises a stink in Gujarat
Govind Nat, a principal in Gujarat, was arrested for the murder and attempted rape of a six-year-old girl. The Congress released photos showing Nat's connections with the ruling party. The police claim Nat confessed to the crime. Another teacher i...

The pictures released by Congress spokesperson shows Nat with a former Gujarat Minister, apart from him participating in RSS and VHP workshops. In one of the images Nat is seen wearing the RSS uniform.
It may be mentioned here that Limkheda police had alleged that Nat had smothered a six year old girl in his car to death after she resisted his attempts to rape her.
According to police, the girl was entrusted to Nat, who is the principal of the local government school while he was driving to the school through the girl’s village. Police had maintained that Nat had confessed that he had tried to rape the girl on his way to school and as the girl started screaming, he smothered her to death and kept the body in his car throughout the day as he went about his routine and dumped the body in the bushes behind the school only after everyone left the premises in the evening.
In another related case, a video had surfaced from a village school in Dhaka village in Botad district where a teacher Anand Jani was seen molesting a minor student last week, following which the teacher was arrested by the police.
Demanding exemplary punishment for the accused in these cases, Congress media convenor Manish Doshi alleged that such incidents have been surfacing across the state at an alarming rate and the school management committees are functioning only on paper. The education department needs to act strongly in these cases instead of covering them up, Doshi added.
Pointing out the political reach of Nat as seen from the photographs, Congress spokesperson Parthivrajsinh Kathvadia sought to know if the VHP and RSS would register any protest against such people.
Reacting to the development, Gujarat BJP Spokesperson Yamal Vyas said, “The state government and our party doesn’t tolerate crimes and criminals.” “Whosoever is guilty will be dealt severely in accordance with the law and I can assure you that anyone guilty of such a heinous crime will not go unpunished,” he added
