Killer accident chokes traffic in Electronics City, Bengaluru

Riyaz, a construction worker, was heading to work around 8:30 am when he was hit by a water tanker, which was coming from Electronics City Phase 1. Riyaz, who was crossing the Wipro Gate when he was hit, was “tossed up in the air and sustained severe head injuries that killed him on the spot,” traffic police said.
The tanker driver also received injuries when he was beaten up by locals while trying to flee. A crowd collected, choking traffic for more than 50 minutes during the morning peak hour. Vehicular flow was restored after traffic policemen dispersed the crowd.
While the injured driver – against whom a case of negligent driving was booked - was rushed to a nearby hospital for first aid, the deceased’s body was sent to Victoria hospital for an autopsy.
