Kerala's Sree Padmanabha Swami temple: SC tells assessment team not to go public on temple's wealth

The Supreme Court has said that the details of the treasure being inventoried at the Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple should not be publicised.

KOCHI: The Supreme Court has said that the details of the treasure being inventoried at the Sree Padmanabha Swami Temple should not be publicised. The court has directed the team of observers doing the inventory assessment not to make public statements regarding the temple wealth.

The apex court on Wednesday expressed its displeasure at the public statements made by Justice CS Rajan about the temple treasure. Justice Rajan is a member of the team of observers appointed by the court for the inventory assessment. Justice Rajan had stated that the stock taking at the temple is an experience that cannot be described in words.

Apart from describing the manner in which the cellars were opened and how the articles were kept, he had also dismissed as baseless the allegations that many articles might have been taken out of the cellar by the royal family. He had said that the articles were offerings to the temple by the royal family.
