Kerala cabinet today approved an ordinance for setting up a statutory board on the lines of the PSC for making appointments in temple boards in the state.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala cabinet today approved an ordinance for setting up a statutory board on the lines of the PSC for making appointments in administrative services of major temple boards in the state.

The ordinance, Devaswom Recruitment Board Ordinance 2014, would be forwarded to the Governor for approval,Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters after a cabinet meeting.

It will be a five-member body comprising a chairman, one SC-ST member, one woman and two persons from general category.

Cabinet decided to provide an assistance of Rs 100 crore as part of the special package for revival of the loss-making Kerala Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

The corporation would utilise the assistance for some urgent measures to be taken up in three months, he said.

The cabinet approved a proposal to build a high rise complex in Thiruvanathapuram, the state capital, for accommodating various statutory bodies including the central and state election commissions.

The land for the building has been identified at Pattom in the city and the Public Works Department would be asked to provide estimate and 'DPR' within three months.
