THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Road Safety Authority would organise a 36-hour non-stop Road Safety Hackathon on August 22 and 23 with an aim to develop 'best road safety solutions'.

The event, considered to be first in the country and sponsored by World Bank, would be held at Technopark here, Kerala Road Safety Commissioner R Sreelekha said here.

Nearly 200 talented developers have registered for the event. "We expect a best solution for road safety to evolve at the event", she said.

Referring to traffic violations in the state, she said an amount of Rs 80 crore was collected as penalty and fine from traffic law violators during 2014-15.

Nearly 17,000 licences have been cancelled for traffic violations during the period, she said.

On Hackthon, she said the best solution selected by the judging committee would be taken by the Road Safety Authority after an agreement with the developers. 'Later it would released to public at free of cost'.
