Bengaluru: Kerala recorded the highest single day recoveries of 8,924 Covid-19 patients on Sunday, while reporting 9,347 new cases. Of the new cases, 8,216 were due to local transmission while the source of infection for 821 was unknown. About 105 healthcare workers were among those infected through contact.

The state has also reported 25 deaths taking the overall doll to 1003. There are 2,84,924 persons under observation across the state, and 2,56,172 of them are under home or institutional quarantine.

Kerala tested 61,629 samples in the last 24 hours. A total of 35,94,320 samples have so far been sent for testing, including 2,12,896 samples from priority groups as part of Sentinel Surveillance, the Kerala government said in its release. The State also declared 12 new places as hotspots on Sunday while excluding 10 areas. The coastal state has 666 hotspots.
