Kerala High Court asks government to inform if it moots any changes in excise policy
KOCHI: The Kerala High court today directed the state government to inform whether it proposes any change in the new excise policy.

When the appeals of bar owners, challenging government's excise policy came up, counsel for bar owners brought to the court's notice the statement made by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the Assembly regarding the proposal to make some changes in the policy.

Chandy had told the Assembly yesterday that while there was no going back on the policy, the government was ready to make essential modifications in the policy without touching the fundamentals, in tune with practical problems and court directives on the matter.

Following this, a Division Bench, comprising Justice K T Sankaran and Justice P D Rajan, directed the government to inform its policy by December 10.
