KOCHI: The state government would create 25 lakh new jobs in the next 5 years and offer a corruption-free administration to the people, said Governor P Sathasivam in his opening address in the 14 th assembly.

He also gave a hint that the government is likely to come out with a new liquor policy. The opening policy address of the governor said the restriction imposed on the consumption of liquor has not yielded the desired results.

The use of drugs is also increasing at an alarming rate, it was pointed in the speech. In this context, the government would consider the opinion of all concerned before formulating a new policy. The new job opportunities would be created in the field of IT, electronics, bio-technology, tourism and other emerging areas. Small industries, construction, agriculture, commerce etc are the other areas identified by the government.
