Kerala floods live: Worst flood in a century kills 67; Kochi airport closed till Saturday
Kerala to witness acute shortage of drinking water as most water treatment plants have either been damaged or have been flooded.

The five latest fatalities that began a week ago came when authorities in the southern state were forced to release water from 35 dangerously full dams, sending a surge into its main river.

* The govt also plans to request the Union ministry of civil aviation to utilise the other two airports in the state - Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram - instead of reverting the flights to Mumbai and other places
* Kannur university cancels all examinations scheduled for August 16, new date to be announced later
* Rain and floods have destroyed and damaged hundreds of houses in the past week and caused significant losses to crops in the state known for its spices and coffee.
