Kerala CPM’s fund-mobilisation skills come to fore again, collects Rs 8 crore in just 2 days
NEW DELHI: In yet another demonstration of effective fund-mobilisation, the Kerala CPM has collected over Rs 8 crore from the people in just two days, September 8 and 9, for establishing the Harkishan Singh Surjeet Bhawan and the EMS Research Centre. Of this amount, according to party polit bureau, over Rs 3 crore is the direct contribution from party members.

Even when West Bengal CPM was voted out of power after 34 years, it was the Kerala Marxists who had collected Rs 3 cr for their Bengal comrades, who were allegedly under attack from Trinamool Congress workers.

The Kerala CPM had also mobilised crores of rupees through the same manner, known as bucket collection, when launched a TV network. The critics of CPM have always questioned the credibility of such fund-raising just as they ask about the total asset worth of the state CPM. On its part, the state party leadership always attributed its fund-raising success to its mass base.
